On the occasion of Colazione, Barriera invites COLLI to present Abyss Gazer, il guardatore dell’abisso, a solo show by Francesco Cavaliere. In collaboration with XING for the production of the project Abyssal Creatures realised as part of the Italian Council (2023).

Abyss Gazer, il guardatore dell’abisso brings together, for the first time in Turin, an entire body of blown glass sculptures that evoke animals and plants from the deep sea. The result of a process of fantastical writing, always central to the artist’s research, these abyssal creatures represent the materialisation of imaginary characters who take on the role of guardians of an unknown and mysterious world. Installed in the spaces of Barriera as if to guard them, they will later be activated in a musical performance that will take place during the finissage. The exhibition, the result of a distinctive hybridization in Cavaliere’s practice, which integrates different languages such as writing, poetry, music, sound, and voice, often involving collaboration with musicians, artisans, and set designers, represents a significant milestone in the artist’s journey, whose practice challenges traditional boundaries and genres.
